Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area:
Forty-plus miles of the central Oregon coast, stretching from Florence south to Coos Bay, along Highway 101, are home to the Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. Beautiful, majestic sand dunes that are literally hundreds of feet high, and are enjoyed by outdoor enthusiast.
Umpqua River Lighthouse:
Located one mile south of Winchester Bay is the Umpqua River Lighthouse. It is one of the few working lighthouses on the Oregon Coast. Tours inside the lighthouse are available during the summer months. Across from the lighthouse is an observation deck for whale watching with interpretive panels and spotting scopes.
Umpqua Discovery Center:
The Umpqua Discovery Center is an educational and cultural resource for all ages making active, innovative contributions to preserving the Oregon “Tidewater Community” experience. Ocean, Lakes & Rivers:
The ocean, lakes and rivers offer a variety of seafood, such as Chinook and Coho salmon, bottom fish, striped and small mouth bass, steelhead. sturgeon, shad, pink tin perch, Dungeness crab, clams and oysters.
Dean Creek Elk:
Just 4 miles east of Reedsport on Highway 38 is the viewing area that is home to approximately 100-150 majestic Roosevelt Elk. The elk roam freely within the 1000 acre preserve, which is also home to waterfowl and even an occasional bald eagle!
